Hacks you wish you had last Summer

Good Evening. She’s back! The Mummy Mail. 🖐🏼

I figured, why write to you when I don’t have anything good to offer you. I want you to be able to gain something from these emails, be that knowledge, a good workout, a laugh or just someone who gets you.

So, with that being said on today’s agenda:

✅ The hacks you NEED to thrive through summer holidays.

✅ The moment I realised I was NOT Super Mum.

✅ Tell me you don’t have time…

WEEKLY WELLNESS WINS

Let’s talk summer holidays! Juggling even more than you already do. 6 weeks of no childcare. But it is 6 weeks where you don’t have to do the school run (whoohoo!).

Why am I talking the holidays before it begins?

Because you need a plan, not just one, multiple!

I am going to share some of my best strategies and ideas, to help keep you on track with your health and wellness journey, whilst keeping the kids entertained. Big statement eh?

  1. Get your kids a cooking set.

Something they can help you prepare meals with. Let’s face it, kids love to help. They want to do whatever it is you are doing. It means you can still make great nutritional choices, whilst keep the kids entertained.

  2. Workout together.

This changed the game for me. When I realised that actually Evie loved exercising with me, it meant my times I could train became less limited.

  3. Create a NEW temporary routine that will get you through summer.

Just with the 3 simple hacks above, this will help you to stay much more on track. Make it fun and enjoyable for the whole family.

I will be doing all of the above over the summer break. I understand how difficult it is juggling all the balls, but this really helps us in this household.

This is your summer to shine!

LEADING FROM THE FRONT

(What this week taught me)

I can only spin so many plates for so long before I start dropping them.

Nicknamed “Super Mum” by my team of coaches, initially made me feel great. In fact I felt unstoppable. It really gave me a boost.

6 months after receiving that nickname, I hit total burnout.

I had forgotten to put my own needs first. Training, moments of calm, saying no and prepping my food.

Super mum never felt so untrue.

It was then that I realised the meaning of super mum wasn’t running around like a headless chicken doing everything for everyone else and putting yourself last. Super mum meant prioritising me, my needs and then doing as much as I could for others.

This was the error I had made. I’d put myself last.

This week, I corrected the mistake.

Getting up 30 minutes before the rest of the household allows me some time to start the day with me. Just me. My own needs!

Then, once Evie is up, I focus my time on her. Getting her fed, dressed etc ready for school.

Once I have done school drop off I then use an hour for me. That may be training, it may be walking, it may be food prepping but that is my hour.

Then I start work. I understand I am lucky in the sense, I can manage my own work diary.

Starting the day with YOUR needs is really what helped transform the game for me. My mood and energy have improved. I feel better for it.

This is something you must try (especially over the summer holidays).

BREAKTHROUGH MOMENT

(Client win)

I am sharing with you Dani’s transformation.

She’s a coach herself and a mum to a little boy who has special educational needs.

It has not been an easy ride so I will let Dani explain it in her own words…

Considering during this cut I’ve:
-Had pneumonia
-Had Covid
-Had my busiest period of work yet to date
-Had a 2.5 month period where tommy was up every night from 10pm-4am
-Came off anti depressants cold Turkey (don’t recommend)
-Had so many social occasions plus my birthday, Christmas, and a trip to centre parcs
-Adulted with a home to run, a business and a crazy 3 year old.

I’ll take this 😂

I started my cut off the back of a 9 month building phase, that was entirely necessary, but my god could not have been the worst time!

Proving my point of:
-Never wait till it gets easier because it doesn’t
-You’ll always be busy and tired so just crack on.
-It feels like the slog of a lifetime at the time but it’s so worth it when you compare pictures.

Also want to say a huge thank you to MY coach @rhi_form for always pushing me but never too much. She knows just the sweet spot 🥺”

Now tell me you can’t find time to prioritise yourself…

Happy Sunday ✌🏻
