Pass me the wine!
Anyone else with me here?
We have reached the end of the Easter break and I don’t know about you but I am ready for routine to resume.
I figured I’d let you into a secret I have been keeping the last few weeks.
I have gained weight.
With the marathon fast approaching, kids being off and chocolate everywhere I look, I have caved. Multiple times.
I have had a few drinks, eaten out, snacked way more than usual and eaten my body weight in chocolate.
But I am ok with it.
Don’t get me wrong, I have felt the effects. I have been way more sluggish, felt more irritable, not slept as well and my jeans have started to feel rather uncomfortable. I mean, I was hoping I’d be wearing floaty dresses by now 🙄.
However, I am not going to diet now.
I am going to go back to my normal routine and the weight will slowly come back down again. My energy will increase and the sugar cravings will slowly start to reduce.
Everyone manages the holidays differently. I, obviously, love having more time with Evie but I struggle to train and work.
So for me, the holidays aren't a time to push.
I stick to my non-negotiables.
10k steps.
Protein with every meal.
A big serving of veggies or salad with each meal.
Eating at regular times.
3 litres of water.
Anything on top of that is a bonus.
There is so much pressure everywhere you look to juggle all these things, be a certain way and look a certain way. But you are a mum. You have huge responsibilities. Your to-do list is endless. Unlike the influencers you see on socials making life look picture perfect.
Remove the pressure.
Do what works for you and your family.
Understand that some days or weeks will be better than others. Just because you ‘mess up’ one day or one week doesn't mean you just completely throw it all in.
Slow progress is better than no progress.
I am going to give you a guide I created all about cravings, stress, hydration and protein. It is filled with so much information and I think you may find it really helpful if you are someone who struggles with sugar cravings and/or stress.
In return, I’d love to ask you a favour, what would you like me to write about over the coming weeks and months? There are no wrong answers, it’s always nice to have some inspiration from you so I ensure I am delivering what you want to read.
All the love,
Rhi x
